Internal Rail Car and Mass Transit Vehicle Cleaning

Maxi-Steam Cleaning Systems totally modernise the cleaning of trains, boats, planes, buses or any other mass-transit vehicle.

Such systems can also be utilised for the cleaning of large commercial properties, including airports and transit facilities, in a more productive and thorough manner than has been seen in the past..

RAILCARS: CLEANER, QUICKER
Maxi-Steam high-pressure, vacuum extraction cleaning systems enable operators to connect portable cleaning tools to ducted outlets piped to a remote main plant. The plant delivers vacuum extraction and high-pressure cleaning solution to the outlets and the operator simply connects the required tool and begins cleaning.

From the connection points, all types of work can be carried out, including:
• dry vacuuming of all floor surfaces and upholstery
• extraction cleaning of carpet or upholstery
• vinyl washing
• scrubbing and drying
• high pressure washing of walls, steps, windows, etcetera.

All of these functions are able to be performed at the one time from each plant outlet.

The purpose built cleaning equipment and methods lend themselves to all types of mass transport cleaning as well as large facility cleaning requirements such as Airport Terminals, Hospitals, Clean Rooms, etc.

Installations have been completed in all mainland states of Australia totalling some twelve plants of varying size (from one to ten operators). The system was first installed at the Victorian Metropolitan train cleaning and maintenance facility in Epping (a suburb of Melbourne, Australia) in 1990 and allows up to three operators to work simultaneously from the same plant in all facets of cleaning.

The enormous benefits of the Epping system were immediately apparent - cleaning times reduced dramatically & the cleaning job itself was much more thorough.

Many rail operators and system designers are now viewing the inclusion of these systems as being as important as the installation of automatic external wash equipment. An added bonus is the ability to eliminate the requirement for heavy cleaning of cars, due to the higher standard achieved during the regular cleaning.

Design versatility is visible in the images of working-area delivery systems above. At the left is a fixed, on-platform hose reel stand with cleaning outlets. The hoses simply connect to the outlets built into the stand. To the right, the mobile access platform specifically designed for the Tilt Train at the Queensland Rail Depot, carrying wand, hoses and hose reel and which connects to outlets piped to points beside the rail track.
